Meet Callum – Sales Exec with a Passion for Cars (and Cocktails!)

At Lightcliffe Škoda we’re proud of the people who make up our team, and in this week’s Meet the Team feature we’re introducing Callum MacLaughlin, one of our Sales Executives. Although Callum has only been with us for a short time, he has already made a great impression with customers and colleagues alike.

How long have you been part of the team here at Lightcliffe Škoda?
“I’ve been here for about 11 months now, and it’s gone really quickly. It’s been a great experience so far and the team have made it really easy to settle in.”

What attracted you to working in the motor trade?
“I’ve always been a bit of a petrolhead, so I’ve always loved cars and the motor industry. A lot of my previous jobs were also very focused on customer service, so working in car sales felt like the perfect combination of the two.”

What does a typical day look like for you here at the dealership?
“A typical day is really about looking after everyone who walks into the showroom. Whether they’re browsing, asking questions, or ready to buy a car, it’s about making sure they feel welcome and enjoy the experience. If someone decides to buy a car, I’ll guide them through the whole process from start to finish.”

What do you enjoy most about helping customers choose their next car?
“One of the best parts of working on the new car team is seeing the excitement people have when they collect their car. A brand new vehicle is a big moment for people, and it’s great knowing they’re the first person to drive it.”

You’ve had a great start here – what helped you settle in so quickly?
“Definitely the team and the managers. Everyone here is really supportive and easy to work with, which makes a big difference when you’re starting somewhere new.”

Do you have a favourite car in the current Škoda range?
“I’m a big fan of the new Fabia 130, which has just been released. If I had to choose my next company car, that would definitely be near the top of the list.”

If someone had never owned a Škoda before, which model would you recommend?
“I’d probably suggest the Škoda Kodiaq. It’s incredibly practical and spacious, and it suits a wide range of lifestyles. Whether someone needs family space, comfort for long journeys, or versatility, it’s a really strong all-round choice.”

We’ve heard you have a hidden talent – mixology. How did that start?
“I never actually intended to become a mixologist. I originally applied for a bar job with my girlfriend at the Liverpool Philharmonic. We didn’t get the job, but I later worked in restaurants and ended up learning bartending. One of my managers was trained in mixology and he taught me a lot about cocktails. I ended up really enjoying experimenting with flavours and creating different drinks, and it’s something I still enjoy doing at home.”

What’s your signature cocktail?
“One of my favourites is called the Pink Rum Puck. It’s made with spiced rum, lemon juice, grenadine, amaretto and egg whites. It’s dry-shaken, then shaken with ice and served over rocks with a fruit garnish.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I’m a big fan of motorsport, especially Formula 1 and Le Mans. I’ve actually been to Le Mans a couple of times which was an incredible experience. I also enjoy driving around Cheshire and North Wales.”

Favourite place you’ve travelled to?
“Lake Garda in Italy – it’s absolutely beautiful.”

Tea or coffee?
“Hot chocolate.”

Summer or winter?
“Summer.”

Early start or late night?
“Late night.”

Beach holiday or city break?
“City break.”

Favourite music to drive to?
“ZZ Top.”

What advice would you give someone visiting Lightcliffe Škoda for the first time?
“Don’t be afraid to come in and say hello. Everyone here is friendly and approachable, and there will always be someone available to help.”

Finally – if a customer wants a great car and a good conversation, why should they come and see you?
“We’ve built a strong reputation for looking after our customers properly. My goal is always to make the whole process as easy and enjoyable as possible and help people find the car that’s right for them.”

If you’d like to meet Callum and explore the latest Škoda range, feel free to visit the team at Lightcliffe Škoda Warrington.

Lightcliffe Skoda Warrington is a trading style of Clare James Automotive limited which is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allow Clare James Automotive Limited to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.
We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes Volkswagen Financial Services. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to Volkswagen Financial Services, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and Volkswagen Financial Services also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms, and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.
