Luke Wins The Premiere League In First Season
Although Lightcliffe has sponsored several local celebrities over the years the recent link up with local darts superstar Luke Littler has been quite unprecedented.
He was already making a noise in the darts world when Lightcliffe Skoda sponsored him the second half of 2023, but his performance in the world PDC championship was the event that jettisoned this incredibly talented young man into the Premier League giving him a seat at the big table with all the other world champions.
Less than 24 hours ago Luke consolidated his stratospheric rise by winning the 2024 Premier League Darts title with an 11-7 victory over Luke Humphries at the O2 Arena in London.
Left in tears after winning six of the last eight legs to beat world champion Humphries in the final, he dashed off the stage to hug his family and gave an emotional speech to the cameras; "To all the doubters, hello! I've just picked up this! You're not doubting me any more,"
Just the eighth player to win a Premier League title the win sees him pocket £275,000 in prize money, on top of the £40,000 earned earlier in the campaign doubling his career prize money to date.
It’s an understatement to say that we are incredibly proud to have been part of the incredible journey that this local young man has and we hope that he will be an inspiration to all young people in the area who have a dream to succeed.
