A Day For Heritage And Culture
The fortune of the Skoda brand has been literally transformational over the last three decades. Where once upon a time Skoda jokes were ubiquitous in every pub on a Friday, their acquisition by the Volkswagen group changed the public perception immeasurably to the point where they are now considered to be an equal to their “bigger” Volkswagen and Audi siblings.
One of the other great misconceptions about the Skoda brand is that it has very little history to report when in fact it pre-dates Audi by five years, (est 1899) and VW by nearly half a century (est 1937).
Originally known as Laurin & Klement the firm was originally a Czech automobile, motorcycle and bicycle manufacturing company founded in 1895. Based in Mladá Boleslav, (Kingdom of Bohemia) it was set up by two automotive pioneers Václav Laurin and Václav Klement with car production commencing in 1905, and saw the company becoming the largest car manufacturer in Austria-Hungary.
This Saturday at Lightcliffe Skoda sees a celebration of the heritage with the Skoda owners club kindly providing over 20 classic Skoda cars, all been lovingly restored to their former glory.
The offer is open to all Lightcliffe customers and will be an informal get together so that customers can share and enjoy the history and culture of these iconic cars. Members of the Skoda owners club will also be in attendance to discuss their restoration projects and other interesting facts about the club and its interests.
The icing on the cake is that there will be a live broadcast on the day from Cheshires Mix56 radio who will be playing requests for customers favourite "drive time" music.
No appointment is needed and but the details can be gained from the dealership or by clicking on the following link. http://m0r.at/yxs
